COMPOSITE STRUCTURES

Composite laminates are used alone or in combination with other materials to form more efficient, lightweight and functional structures. Extensive research is being conducted on fabrication, testing and analysis of composite sandwich structures. These structures consist of two thin composite face sheets and a thicker lightweight core (usually foam or aluminum honeycomb). Ongoing activities in this area include:
